Welcome to Preserve Laie! A community driven platform for discussing the responsible development and preservation of the lands in Laie.

Why the need for Preserve Laie?

This is a great question with a long answer but we'll try to sum it up as best we can. Our reasons are as follows.

Stewardship

We believe we have a responsibility to care for the community we live in. Not only the people, but the land itself. In the parable of talents the Lord teaches that not only should we care for what we have been given but strive to multiply and improve it.

Preservation

With no long-term plan in place the land is in jeopardy of being lost to short-term interests and commercial entities who goals do not align with community values.

Preservation means more than protecting the land from commercial encroachment. It means preserving and restoring local vegetation and habitat, educating visitors and connecting the community to the land.

Legacy

Our children and grandchildren will live in Laie long after we are gone. What will we leave behind for them? If we don't come together, plan and build, we won't leave anything behind at all. Or what exists currently may be gone. Let's not let that happen.

Collaboration

To build something meaningful and long-lasting we believe that the entire community must come together. That means our community members, land owners and managers, local schools and businesses should all be communicating their interests, ideas and concerns.

The site is brand new and there is much work to be done. We'll be uploading the actual proposal as it is developed. We'll also be adding a way for people who would like to be involved to contact us. We would like to include some way for folks to show their support of the project as well.

And that's it, we hope you will join us in this exciting endeavour!
